Uncertainty around 2024 headcount planning?

Has anyone heard anything concrete about headcount planning for next year at Abbott? There's been a lot of internal chatter, but nothing official has come down the pipe. Some teams seem to be aggressively planning for growth, while others are eerily quiet. My manager is being very tight-lipped, which is unusual. Combined with the general economic outlook, I'm starting to get a bit antsy. Are we looking at a freeze, targeted cuts, or just a general belt-tightening? It's hard to plan personal finances and career moves when there's so much ambiguity. Would appreciate any intel, even if it's just whispers from your own departments.

I've been hearing a lot of the same. It feels like a bit of a mixed bag depending on the division. Some areas are definitely hiring, but there's also a definite sense of caution overall. My best guess is it's going to be very role-specific, with tighter controls on non-essential spending. It's tough when the official word isn't clear, makes it hard to make personal plans too.

Yeah, that ambiguity is really unsettling, isn't it? My team is also in a holding pattern, which isn't typical for us. It makes you wonder if they're waiting for a clearer economic signal or if there are bigger strategic shifts happening behind the scenes. Hopefully, we get some official communication soon so everyone can stop speculating.
