Anyone else feeling uneasy about the future?

I've been at Blizzard for 7 years, started as a junior artist and now I'm a senior. I love my team, I love the work, but honestly, the vibe has been off lately. It feels like everyone is walking on eggshells. The higher-ups are being super vague in meetings, and there's this constant pressure to 'optimize' everything. I know the Microsoft acquisition was supposed to be a good thing, but I can't shake this feeling that layoffs are coming. Anyone else feeling the same? Or am I just being paranoid? I'm specifically in the Irvine office, working on Diablo. What's the scuttlebutt?

Totally get where you're coming from. The 'optimize' talk is always a red flag. I went through something similar at another company right before a huge restructuring. Start updating your resume now, just in case. Better to be prepared than caught off guard. Network with people outside the company too. Lean on your team, but also look out for yourself.

Honestly, I think you're being a bit paranoid. Microsoft's a huge company, and they know what they're doing. Seven years is a good run, and seniority usually means some level of job security. Maybe the higher-ups are just dealing with the normal acquisition stuff. Try to focus on your work and not get caught up in the rumor mill. Easier said than done, I know, but worth a shot!
