Anyone else notice the hiring freeze in certain departments?

I haven't seen any official layoff announcements recently, but I've been trying to get some internal transfers approved and it's been radio silence for weeks. My manager is being cagey, just saying 'budget constraints' and 'prioritizing existing projects.' It feels like more than just a temporary pause. Several job reqs I was tracking have been quietly closed without explanation. This is really unsettling, especially after the big Microsoft cuts earlier this year. Are other teams experiencing this? Is it across the board or specific to certain studios/departments? Trying to get a sense if this is a prelude to more restructuring or just normal post-acquisition adjustments. Feeling a bit on edge about job security right now, to be honest. Anyone got any insider info or similar experiences?

Yeah, I've heard similar rumblings. My team's been feeling the squeeze too, with new hires being put on hold and some internal mobility requests getting stalled indefinitely. The 'budget constraints' excuse is getting old, especially when they keep pushing for new, ambitious projects. It's creating a lot of uncertainty and frankly, demotivating. Feels like we're being asked to do more with less, and the silence on open positions is definitely concerning.

Definitely noticing it. Been waiting on a transfer for months and it's just been one excuse after another. My buddy in QA said their team is swamped but they can't get approval for even junior positions. Seems like a general hiring slowdown across the board, not just isolated incidents. Not sure what the long-term plan is, but this is making it hard to plan for the future and keep morale up.
