Just saw a bunch of HR people walking around... feeling sick

I'm on the animation team in Blizzard, been here almost 7 years. Usually they just send emails for company-wide stuff, but I just saw like, 4 people from HR walking around with serious faces. They went into my manager's office, and the door's been closed for like 20 minutes. I have a really bad feeling. I know the stock hasn't been great, and with the Microsoft merger finally happening... I just... ugh. Anyone else seeing weird stuff today? I'm honestly considering just packing up and going home. Can't focus on anything right now. Seriously considering updating my resume AGAIN. This sucks.

That does sound unsettling. Layoffs are sadly common during mergers. Maybe start backing up your personal files on company machines, just in case? Dust off your resume and LinkedIn profile too. Doesn't hurt to be prepared. Even if it's nothing, knowing you have a plan B can ease your anxiety a bit. Hope it's just something routine though!

Okay, calm down. HR walking around is hardly a sign of imminent doom. They could be doing performance reviews, or dealing with some completely unrelated internal issue. Remember that time everyone freaked out because the coffee machine was being replaced? It turned out fine. Deep breaths. Overreacting won't help anything.
