LinkedIn Learning courses worth anything for getting a new job?

Okay, so IF the worst happens, and layoffs come, I want to be prepared. My role is pretty niche, mostly focused on backend stuff for WoW. I'm not sure how marketable my skills are outside of gaming companies. I have access to LinkedIn Learning through my employee benefits. Has anyone actually landed a job after taking one of their courses? Specifically, I'm looking at some Python and AWS cert prep stuff. Or is it just a waste of time? Should I be focusing on LeetCode instead? Any advice from people who've successfully transitioned out of Activision Blizzard would be greatly appreciated. Salary expectations are also a big question mark for me, given the specialized nature of my current role.

Honestly, doing both LinkedIn Learning and LeetCode is a solid plan. The courses are decent for getting an overview and some practical skills, especially for AWS. Think of it as building a base. LeetCode is crucial for interviews, though. Frame your WoW experience in a way that highlights transferable skills – problem-solving, scalability, etc. Tailor your resume to each job and emphasize what you bring to the table beyond just gaming experience. LinkedIn Learning is okay for brushing up on things, but don't expect it to magically land you a job. Cert prep is useful, but experience trumps certificates. Focus on building real projects that you can show off in a portfolio. If your role is niche, spend your time adapting your knowledge to another industry. Look into financial services or healthcare – they often need the same backend infrastructure and can pay way better, anyway.
