Severance package - what to expect?

Okay, so let's say the worst happens and layoffs DO hit. What can we realistically expect in terms of severance? I've heard whispers of two weeks per year of service, but that seems kinda low compared to other tech companies. Does anyone have firsthand experience from past Activision Blizzard layoffs, or even general knowledge about California severance laws? I'm trying to mentally prepare myself financially, and any insights would be greatly appreciated. Also, does anyone know if they typically offer outplacement services or career counseling?

Hey, I was around for some cuts years ago (pre-Bobby days, lol). Two weeks per year *was* the standard back then, plus accrued vacation. But honestly, expect them to minimize it if they can. California law is pretty minimal on mandatory severance, so they mostly have flexibility. Start updating your resume *now* and discreetly network. Better to be proactive. Also, start tracking all your achievements. It will help in interviews later!

I wouldn't get your hopes up too high. While two weeks per year sounds decent, remember that Activision Blizzard is now under Microsoft. They might standardize severance across the whole org, and that might not be in our favor. Check your offer letter/employment agreement carefully for any severance clauses. Some companies have them buried in the fine print. Best of luck to everyone – it's a stressful time.
