Wondering about severance packages if it comes to it...

Okay, so I know there haven't been official announcements, but with all the whispers and the general vibe, I'm starting to think about worst-case scenarios. For those who have been through layoffs at other gaming companies, or even at ABK before, what's a typical severance package like? I'm in a mid-level engineering role, been here for 3 years. Just trying to get a realistic idea of what to expect in terms of weeks per year of service, health insurance continuation, etc. Trying not to panic, but also want to be informed if things go sideways. Any info would be appreciated.

Hey, I've been through a layoff at a different studio a few years back. For a mid-level engineer with 3 years at the company, I got around 2 weeks per year of service, so about 6 weeks pay. They also extended health benefits for 2 months, which was a lifesaver. It's smart to start thinking about this now, but try to focus on your current work and what you can control. Honestly, I wouldn't put too much stock in the 'whispers.' The gaming industry is always a bit volatile, and companies go through restructuring cycles. If layoffs do happen, ABK has a history of offering standard packages, but 'typical' can vary wildly. Focus on keeping your resume updated and networking. Don't let the speculation get to you too much – just be prepared. Sometimes things blow over.
