AMD - Is anyone else’s team being hit with more 'efficiency' initiatives?

Feeling a bit anxious here at AMD. My team has been undergoing a series of 'efficiency improvements' over the past couple of months. This involves a lot of cross-training into roles that seem redundant, and a general sense that resources are being squeezed. It's not outright layoffs, but the underlying message feels like 'do more with less,' which often precedes headcount reductions. I’ve seen the rumors online about potential job cuts across the industry and specifically at AMD, but nothing has materialized officially for my group. Anyone else experiencing similar 'efficiency' drives that feel like a precursor to something bigger? Wondering if this is a company-wide push or just specific to certain divisions. Trying to understand the broader picture and if I should start updating my resume.

Yeah, that 'efficiency' language is definitely starting to sound like a familiar tune across a lot of tech companies right now. It's understandable to feel that anxiety when you're seeing changes that feel like they're preparing for something bigger, even if it's not explicitly stated. Hopefully, it's just a genuine drive for optimization and not a precursor to anything more serious for your team.

I've heard similar rumblings. It's a tough environment when the focus shifts so heavily to 'doing more with less.' Cross-training can be valuable, but when it feels forced or redundant, it definitely raises questions. Keeping a close eye on industry trends and internal communications is probably the best approach right now. Stay vigilant and support your colleagues.
