Hypothetical Severance Package - What to Expect?

Okay, so this is purely hypothetical, but I'm trying to be prepared. If AMD were to do layoffs, what kind of severance package could we realistically expect? I'm talking based on years of service, benefits continuation, etc. I've heard rumors of two weeks per year of service, but also seen companies offering much less. Anyone have firsthand experience from past AMD layoffs or insights from other companies in the industry? Trying to get a sense of what I should be budgeting for in a worst-case scenario.

Honestly, it's all over the map. Two weeks per year of service used to be the gold standard, but I've seen that erode quite a bit. AMD's previous layoffs, from what I remember, varied depending on your level and department. Don't bank on anything until you see the actual offer. Start updating your resume *now*, even if it's just for peace of mind. Better to be prepared than scrambling later.

Take everything with a grain of salt. Rumors fly rampant during times like these. While two weeks per year is a good benchmark to hope for, realistically, it could be less. Focus on what you can control: tightening your budget, exploring other opportunities, and networking. Also, carefully review your employment contract for any specific clauses related to severance or termination. Good luck!
