Aon - Performance Reviews Feeling Different This Year?

Hey everyone, posting anonymously as usual. Had my performance review recently and something felt off. The usual feedback about strengths and areas for development was there, but there was a much stronger emphasis on "strategic alignment" and "efficiency." It felt less about individual contribution and more about how my role fits into the bigger picture of cost savings, if that makes sense. It's got me wondering if others are experiencing a similar shift in how performance is being evaluated at Aon. Is this just a new corporate buzzword thing, or is there something more concrete going on behind the scenes? Not hearing anything specific about layoffs, but the tone feels different and I'm trying to gauge if it's just my manager or a broader trend.

I've noticed that too. It feels like the focus has shifted significantly. While individual results are still mentioned, the real conversation seems to be about how our work contributes to broader organizational goals, especially around streamlining processes and optimizing resources. It's a bit of a change from the more direct performance metrics we used to see. Makes you wonder about the long-term implications for career growth and how we demonstrate value.

Interesting that you bring this up. My review also had that 'strategic alignment' buzzword sprinkled throughout. I interpreted it as a sign that the company is really doubling down on cost-consciousness and ensuring every role is directly tied to tangible business outcomes. It's a bit unsettling if you were used to a more qualitative assessment of your impact. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
