Hearing whispers in my team... is this finally happening?

I've been at Apple for 7 years now, on the software engineering team for the Watch. Lately, the vibe has been super off. My manager, who's usually pretty transparent, has been acting weird – avoiding eye contact, cutting meetings short, the works. There's also been a noticeable drop in new projects being assigned, and more 'efficiency' talk than usual. I overheard two senior engineers talking about 'restructuring' near the coffee machine yesterday, but they clammed up when I approached. Anyone else feeling this way in their departments? Starting to feel like we're all bracing for impact. Should I polish up my resume, or am I just being paranoid?

Sounds rough. Honestly, the 'efficiency' talk is always a red flag. Been through a similar situation at a different company – sudden radio silence from management, vague promises, then BAM – layoffs. Start updating your resume and discreetly reaching out to your network. Better to be prepared than blindsided. Good luck, hope it's just paranoia, but trust your gut.

Restructuring happens. Seven years at Apple is a good run. Don't freak out over coffee machine whispers. If you're valuable and perform well, you're likely fine. Focus on delivering excellent work, documenting your accomplishments, and making yourself indispensable. That's the best job security, regardless. And maybe, just maybe, ask your manager directly if something is up. Direct communication beats speculation.
