From what I've heard, Apple's severance packages are generally considered decent, but it's not a guarantee. Expect at least 2 weeks per year of service, maybe a bit more depending on your level and department. Negotiating is tough, but not impossible, especially if you have unique skills or a long tenure. Definitely start networking now and update your resume. The Bay Area is brutal without a job lined up.
Honestly, don't get your hopes up too high. While some folks might get a generous package, Apple's bottom line is still the bottom line. Five years might get you something, but don't expect a golden parachute. Better to focus on finding a new role ASAP. Start applying now; don't wait for the axe to fall.
