Anyone hearing whispers about Q4 headcounts?

Is anyone else getting weird vibes lately? I’ve been in the Decatur office for about six years now, and the atmosphere feels different. We’ve been seeing a lot of chatter about 'optimizing operational efficiency' in the recent town halls, which usually translates to something nobody wants to hear. I haven't seen any formal announcements or WARN notices yet, but my manager has been extremely cagey during our 1:1s lately. Usually, they are pretty open about projects, but now it’s just a lot of generic 'let’s focus on core deliverables.' I’ve been talking to a few folks in supply chain and logistics, and there’s a general sense that we’re bracing for impact. I'm just curious if anyone in the satellite offices or corporate has heard anything more concrete, or if I’m just reading too much into the typical end-of-fiscal-year stress. I’ve already started dusting off my resume just in case, because I’d rather be over-prepared than blindsided like so many people in the sector have been this year.

I'm over in logistics and the vibe is definitely off. Leadership keeps leaning hard into that 'operational efficiency' buzzword, and we all know exactly what that implies. My department head has stopped discussing long-term goals entirely, which feels like a major red flag. I wouldn't be surprised if we see some significant restructuring announcements before the end of the year. Keep your resume polished and start tracking your accomplishments now—if they are moving toward cuts, they won't give us much lead time to prepare.

Honestly, I’ve stopped reading too much into the corporate speak. They say that every year around this time to keep people focused on the quarter-end targets. If you’ve been in the Decatur office for six years, you know how these cycles go. It’s likely just routine end-of-year belt-tightening rather than a mass purge. Just keep your head down, hit your KPIs, and ignore the rumor mill. Worrying about whispers won't change the bottom line, and most of this panic is usually just misplaced anxiety.
