Another round of cuts - What departments are being hit hardest?

Just saw the news about another round of layoffs at AT&T, effective May 28th. Apparently around 1,000 employees were impacted, according to some articles I've read. Feels like this is becoming a quarterly event at this point. It's hard to know the full scope, and official numbers are always slow to come out. I'm trying to figure out which teams or divisions are seeing the most significant impact this time around. My department has been relatively stable, but the anxiety is through the roof. Seeing colleagues get the axe has a way of making you second-guess everything. Anyone in network operations, IT, or customer service have insights into what areas are being targeted? Trying to get a sense of where the axe is falling to prepare myself and my team. Is this just general cost-cutting, or are specific strategic shifts happening that we aren't privy to?

It's incredibly disheartening to see these recurring layoff cycles. While I haven't heard specific departmental impacts yet, the general atmosphere of uncertainty is palpable. Many are worried about their future, and it's tough when you hear about colleagues potentially losing their jobs. Hopefully, the company will provide more clarity soon on where these changes are concentrated, though I'm not holding my breath given past experiences. Just trying to stay focused on my own work amidst the noise.

This news is definitely unsettling. I've been hearing whispers that network operations and customer service roles might be facing some restructuring, but it's hard to confirm anything concrete. The constant 'efficiency' drives and departmental reorganizations make it difficult to feel secure, no matter your area. It's a challenging time for everyone, and the lack of transparency only adds to the stress. Hoping for the best for those affected.
