Layoffs Continue: Is This the New Normal at AT&T?

Just saw the news about another round of layoffs hitting AT&T. Feels like we can't catch a break. Reading some of the articles, it seems like this is part of a longer-term cost-cutting strategy, stretching out over years. I get that companies need to adapt, but it's really unsettling to be in an environment where layoffs feel like a regular occurrence. Anyone else in network engineering or field operations feeling the constant pressure? It makes it hard to plan for the future, both professionally and personally. Are we seeing a shift in how AT&T operates, or is this just a cyclical thing in the telecom industry? Trying to stay optimistic, but it’s tough when you see the numbers and hear the whispers. Wondering if leadership truly understands the impact this has on morale and the remaining workforce. Feels like we're being asked to do more with less, constantly. Hope this is the last of it for a while.

This is pretty disheartening to read. I'm in a different department, but the anxiety is definitely palpable across the board. It feels like there's always a shadow hanging over us, wondering who might be next. Trying to focus on doing good work, but it's tough when the job security seems so fragile. Hope things stabilize soon for everyone here.

Totally get where you're coming from. The 'new normal' narrative is concerning. While I understand the need for business adjustments, the continuous nature of these layoffs makes it difficult to feel secure or invested long-term. It impacts morale and makes it harder to attract and retain talent, which ultimately harms the company. Hoping for some clarity and stability moving forward.
