The 'cost-cutting' excuse is getting old

Another round of layoffs announced, and what's the reason? "Cost-cutting." Heard it all before. They post record profits sometimes, then turn around and slash jobs. It's incredibly demoralizing to be a part of. You bust your ass, hit your targets, and still, you're just a number that can be cut if it saves a few million. It's especially frustrating when you see the amount of money being spent elsewhere, or when they talk about "strategic investments" that don't seem to benefit the people actually doing the work. Makes you wonder if there's a hidden agenda or if leadership is just out of touch with the reality on the ground. I'm looking at my options, but it's tough to leave a stable job, even when it feels like the stability is disappearing by the day. Just needed to vent, I guess. Anyone else feel like they're just a cog in a machine that's slowly being dismantled?

Totally get your frustration. It feels like the 'cost-cutting' narrative is just a convenient shield for decisions that don't prioritize the people actually doing the work. Seeing profits and then layoffs is a tough pill to swallow. The constant uncertainty has to be draining, and it's understandable why morale would take a hit when you feel like your contributions aren't enough to secure your position.

Yeah, that 'cost-cutting' line feels pretty hollow when you see other spending. It's hard not to question where the priorities really lie. When people pour their energy into a company and still face the chopping block, it erodes trust. Feels like a disconnect between what's said and what's happening on the ground.
