Anyone else seeing increased scrutiny on expenses at BH?

Hey everyone, wanted to see if anyone else has noticed a shift recently. Seems like budgets are being tightened across a few of the companies I interact with within the Berkshire ecosystem. Not talking about outright cuts or hiring freezes yet, but definitely a "show me the money" vibe and more questions about ROI on pretty much everything. Travel is being questioned more, discretionary spending is under a microscope. It feels like management is getting a bit more cautious, even though there haven't been any major headlines. Wondering if this is a company-wide thing or if I'm just in a particularly sensitive division. Curious to hear if others are experiencing similar trends.

Interesting observation. I've heard similar whispers anecdotally from some of the insurance operations. It's not entirely surprising given the current economic climate and the general focus on efficiency that Warren and Charlie have always championed. Probably just prudent housekeeping to ensure long-term strength.

Yeah, I've seen that too, especially in areas that aren't directly tied to core revenue generation. My sense is it's less about panic and more about a renewed emphasis on the fundamentals. They've always been big on not wasting a dime, and that discipline likely gets amplified when there's uncertainty brewing.
