Anyone else feeling the quiet before the storm at Boeing?

Been with Boeing for about 7 years now, mostly in engineering on the defense side. Lately, it's been so quiet. Like, eerily quiet. My team hasn't gotten any new project assignments in weeks, and the usual 'let's plan for next quarter' meetings are being pushed back. My manager is being super vague, just saying 'we're re-evaluating priorities.' I've heard whispers from colleagues in other departments, especially some of the older contract folks, about not having their contracts renewed. It feels like something is brewing, and frankly, the uncertainty is worse than knowing. Anyone else in a similar boat? What's the vibe on your floor?

Vague answers from management are never a good sign. Maybe it's worth updating your resume and keeping an eye on the job market, just to have options? Quiet isn't always a bad thing, is it? Could be they're consolidating, streamlining, or perhaps gearing up for a massive, undisclosed project that requires intense focus behind the scenes. Defense contracts can be notoriously cyclical. Maybe instead of reading into the silence, focus on finishing your current tasks flawlessly. If there are older contract folks leaving, it might just be a natural churn. Managers can be vague because they aren't allowed to say much until things are finalized. Stay focused on your work.
