Is anyone else seeing a hiring freeze or reduction in new requisitions?

I work in recruiting/HR (anonymized, of course) and the number of new requisitions being approved has dropped off a cliff over the past month. We're still filling critical roles and backfilling some departures, but the proactive hiring and expansion plans that were in place seem to have been put on indefinite hold. Managers are being told to justify every single headcount request, and even then, approvals are taking ages. It feels like the taps are slowly being turned off. Anyone in other departments noticing fewer new hires coming onboard, or even a slowdown in onboarding processes? Wondering if this is a company-wide thing or just specific to my area.

Yeah, seeing similar trends across a few departments. It's definitely not just a recruiting thing. There's a general sense of caution, and any growth initiatives seem to be on the back burner. Makes you wonder what the underlying business outlook is, or if it's just a strategic pause before something else kicks off. Hopefully, it's the latter.

Definitely feeling the squeeze. The justification process for new roles is intense, and the wait times for approvals are brutal.
