NOLA site hit again – is anyone actually safe?

Just saw the WARN notice for the New Orleans site. Another 178 people getting the boot by mid-April. It’s exhausting watching the drip-feed of these announcements. They keep saying it’s part of the broader 10% cut, but it feels like they’re just carving out chunks of the company piece by piece to satisfy Wall Street. I have friends at the Gentilly road facility and the mood is just pure dread. Nobody is working on the actual planes anymore; everyone is just refreshing their email to see if a calendar invite from HR pops up. Does leadership honestly think they can hit these production targets while gutting the experienced headcount on the ground? The institutional knowledge walking out the door in New Orleans is going to haunt us for a decade. Good luck to those affected—if you’re still inside, keep your resume updated and don’t be loyal to a company that looks at you as nothing more than a liability on a spreadsheet.

It is getting hard to watch. Every time a new notice drops, it feels like the foundation of the company is crumbling a little more. People aren't talking about engineering or safety; they are just counting down the days until their own name is on the list. When you treat your workforce like a liability to be offloaded rather than an asset, you lose the institutional knowledge that made the company great in the first place. My heart goes out to everyone in NOLA holding their breath right now.

Honestly, the writing has been on the wall for a long time. Wall Street doesn't care about the legacy of these facilities or the people on the floor; they just want the headcount numbers to look leaner for the next quarterly report. It’s a vicious cycle of cutting costs and compromising quality, and it’s clearly not working. At this point, I don't think anyone feels secure regardless of their department. It's just a waiting game for the next round of layoffs, and frankly, it’s depressing to witness.
