It is definitely not just your division. I am seeing the exact same tightening of the belt over here in engineering. We have lost three key team members in the last quarter and leadership has gone completely silent regarding any backfills. Everyone is burnt out trying to cover the gap while we deal with these relentless budget reviews. It feels like management is keeping us in the dark until the next shoe drops, just like they did before the previous restructuring. The lack of transparency right now is honestly the worst part of it all.
Hang in there. I have been at BorgWarner for a while now, and this cycle feels all too familiar. When the travel freezes hit and the petty cash scrutiny starts, it usually signals that the finance team is prepping for a rough quarter. My group is in the same boat, drowning in work because we are understaffed and being told to 'do more with less.' It is a tough spot to be in, but try not to let the anxiety take over. Just keep your head down, document everything you are doing, and make sure you are polishing your resume just in case things take a turn for the worse.
