Hypothetically speaking, what kind of severance package would Broadcom offer?

Okay, so this is purely hypothetical, but I'm trying to get a sense of what to expect *if* Broadcom were to do layoffs. I'm in engineering, been here for 4 years. I know it varies based on role and tenure, but has anyone heard anything, or maybe have experience from previous companies, about what a typical severance package looks like? Like, weeks per year of service? Continued healthcare? Anything else I should be thinking about? Trying to be prepared, just in case.

Heard from a friend who went through a similar situation at another large tech company. They got two weeks per year of service, plus a few months of continued healthcare coverage (COBRA subsidy, I think). They also got outplacement services to help with their job search. Definitely factor in your unvested stock options too, as the vesting schedule might change or accelerate. Good luck, hope you don't need it!

Honestly, it's all speculation until it happens. Broadcom has a reputation, let's just say. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Even if they offer something decent initially, they'll likely try to get you to sign away your rights for anything and everything. Get a lawyer to review any paperwork *before* you sign. Protect yourself first. HR is NOT your friend.
