Is anyone actually safe in the BU shuffle?

I’ve been watching the post-acquisition integration closely since the Burlington news dropped, and honestly, the anxiety in the Slack channels is at an all-time high. It feels like every week there’s a new 'restructuring' announcement. Management keeps using the word 'efficiency' to mask what is clearly just aggressive headcount reduction to juice the stock price. I’m in a core product team that we were told was 'essential,' but after seeing the recent WARN notices, I’m not even sure what that word means anymore. The uncertainty is the worst part—you’re basically just waiting for that calendar invite titled 'Business Update' to appear on a Friday afternoon. Is anyone actually feeling secure right now, or are we all just waiting for the next round of 'synergies' to hit our specific division? If you're a long-timer, have you seen this kind of churn before, or is this just the new normal under the current leadership strategy? Trying to decide if it's time to polish the resume or just keep my head down and hope I’m not on the next list.

The 'essential' label is basically a rolling expiration date at this point. I’ve seen this playbook run three times now, and the script never changes. They target the high-salary legacy talent first to clear the balance sheet, then they strip the product down to its bare essentials. If you're banking on being 'safe' because your team is core, you’re missing the big picture. Start updating your resume tonight and look for a landing spot outside the company. The efficiency target is a moving goalpost that only stops when the margins look exactly how Wall Street wants them.

Honestly, take a breath. It’s definitely a rough patch, but people on these forums tend to catastrophize every single move the company makes. Broadcom has a specific strategy, and while it's undeniably aggressive, it’s also how they’ve managed to maintain such high profitability compared to the rest of the sector. It’s stressful, sure, but if you’re doing high-value work, the dust usually settles once the integration is complete. Don't let the panic in the Slack channels dictate your entire outlook; focus on your deliverables and see how things look after the next quarter.
