400+ layoffs again - revenue is up, what gives?

0x7f73…4468Seriously, can someone explain this? Yahoo Finance reports another 400+ layoffs, concentrated in California, and the revenue numbers from the last quarter were apparently stellar. I've been with Cisco for years, and this pattern of layoffs right after record earnings is baffling. It feels like we're just numbers on a spreadsheet being juggled for maximum short-term profit. Are they trying to appease investors with cuts even when the business is doing well? Or is there a massive internal shake-up happening that no one is talking about? It makes it really hard to feel secure or motivated when you see this happening repeatedly. Feels like a slap in the face to everyone working hard to achieve those record numbers. Anyone have any theories or insider info on the real reason behind this latest bloodletting, especially given the positive financial reports?
