Thoughts on the severance packages post-August 29?

Just got my packet this morning after the 8/29 announcement. Honestly, it’s about what I expected, but it still stings to be part of the 'restructuring' despite hitting every single KPI for the last two quarters. For those asking, they are sticking to the standard formula they’ve used in previous cycles. I’m spending my afternoon cleaning out my dev environment and making sure I have copies of my performance reviews before they cut off my access. If you’re still in the office and wondering if your role is safe, I’d suggest doing the same. Don’t trust the 'everything is fine' emails from HR. Once the calendar invites start rolling out, your access usually drops within the hour. It’s a bitter pill to swallow after helping them hit these revenue targets. Good luck to everyone currently in the transition period, and please keep posting updates if you hear about which teams are being hollowed out next.

I am sorry to hear you got hit despite those numbers. It is classic Cisco corporate speak—they talk about rewarding performance while simultaneously doing mass layoffs based on budget lines rather than individual merit. Make sure you get those performance reviews and any records of your awards saved on a personal drive immediately. Once that badge stops working, you lose all leverage. Don’t waste time being loyal to a company that views you as nothing more than an expense to be trimmed for the next quarterly earnings report.

Same situation here, got the news yesterday. The formula is exactly what we saw in the previous cycle, so no real surprises, but that doesn't make the transition any easier. I’m mostly just focused on clearing out my local files and setting up my LinkedIn before the inevitable access cutoff happens. It’s a bitter pill to swallow after years of grinding, but at this point, it’s best to just take the package and move on to something that actually appreciates the skill set. Good luck with the next steps.
