CFG - Post-holiday hiring freeze or something else?

So, the holidays are over and usually, we'd see some hiring pick back up, or at least the usual movement. But lately, it feels like there's been a pretty significant slowdown in external offers and even internal transfers. My manager is being super cagey about headcount for Q1 and Q2. Anyone else notice this? It's not a layoff announcement, but it feels like a de facto freeze. Trying to understand if this is a strategic move for the bank or just the general market uncertainty trickling down. I've been seeing a lot of 'urgent' projects piling up without additional resources. Wondering if others are feeling this squeeze. Is it just me, or is the company tightening its belt in ways that aren't being communicated openly?

Yeah, I've definitely felt a similar vibe lately. There's been way less buzz about new roles opening up, and even the internal mobility seems to have stalled. My team lead hinted at some budget tightening for the first half of the year, which makes me think it might be a conscious decision to slow things down a bit rather than just market noise. Hopefully, it's a temporary pause and not a sign of bigger issues down the line. It's definitely making planning ahead a bit more challenging.
