Citizens Financial: Are the whispers about a hiring pause true?

Been at CFI for a few years now, and things feel...different. Recruiting has gone radio silent on a lot of roles that were open a month or two ago. Plus, I've heard some chatter from colleagues in different departments about budgets being tightened up unexpectedly. My manager is being cagey when I ask about future headcount for my team. Is anyone else getting this vibe? Feels like a quiet hiring freeze or maybe the prelude to something bigger. Wondering if this is just my corner of the bank or a wider trend. Anyone have any intel?

I'm seeing something similar in my department. Several roles we were actively interviewing for suddenly went 'on hold' with no explanation. HR is also being very tight-lipped. It's definitely creating some uncertainty among the team, especially with the economic climate being what it is. Hoping it's just a temporary adjustment and not a sign of deeper issues.

That definitely resonates. I haven't heard direct confirmation of a hiring freeze, but the lack of movement on open requisitions and the general hush-hush atmosphere about future planning is pretty telling. It makes you wonder what the strategic priorities are for the next quarter or two. Hopefully, management will provide some clarity soon, as the silence is starting to breed some anxiety.
