Dude, don't freak out. Probably just routine maintenance, like they said. It's end of quarter; maybe they're updating hardware or something to prep for the big reports. Finance is always extra locked down anyway. I wouldn't read too much into it unless you start seeing cardboard boxes being wheeled out. Remember that time they replaced the carpets on the whole floor? It was a nightmare, but no layoffs happened.
Record profits usually mean someone upstairs is thinking about 'efficiency'. Lockdowns, maintenance... it does sound a bit weird, especially near finance. Keep an eye on internal job postings and maybe brush up your resume, just in case. Better to be prepared than surprised. Don't panic yet, but trust your gut. Start networking and feel out other opportunities.
