Is the 'strategic pivot' code for something else?

Been hearing the term 'strategic pivot' thrown around in almost every town hall lately. Every time leadership says it, they emphasize 'efficiency' and 'streamlining our focus.' We all know what that usually means in this industry. I’ve been here for five years and I’ve seen this script before—it usually precedes a round of 'voluntary' packages or, worse, a straight-up reduction in force. I’m seeing way more cross-departmental reorgs happening beneath the surface, where entire pods are being merged into others. It’s hard to stay focused on the sprint when you’re constantly wondering if your new manager is going to be the one who gets the axe next month. Is anyone else feeling the tension, or am I just being paranoid because of the market headlines?
