Anyone else feeling the budget squeeze at ConEd?

Been hearing a lot of whispers lately, but nothing concrete. Seems like discretionary spending is getting slashed, and a lot of non-essential projects are being put on hold or significantly scaled back. My team's been told to "prioritize ruthlessly" which is code for "do more with less." Has anyone else noticed this? Are there specific departments seeing more cuts than others? Trying to get a sense of whether this is a company-wide trend or just isolated incidents. Also, the usual holiday budgets seem to be nowhere in sight. Just curious what others are seeing on the ground. Is this a precursor to something bigger, or just a typical year-end budget shuffle?

Yeah, definitely seeing that ripple effect here. It feels like every request, no matter how small, is getting scrutinized with a fine-tooth comb. Budget reviews are intense, and the expectation is always to justify every penny. My department is struggling to keep up with existing workloads, let alone take on new initiatives, without additional resources. The 'do more with less' mantra is wearing thin, and morale is definitely taking a hit.

Totally. The emphasis on efficiency is palpable. Seems like every department is being pushed to find ways to streamline processes and cut overhead. Rumors about hiring freezes in certain areas are also circulating. It’s creating a lot of uncertainty about future growth and development within the company. Curious to see if this is a short-term adjustment or a more permanent shift in how we operate.
