What's the deal with the hiring freeze at Con Ed?

Been trying to get a new position within Con Ed for a couple of months now. Applied to a bunch of internal postings and even had a couple of initial chats, but now it seems like everything has just stopped. The job board hasn't updated in weeks, and the recruiters I was in touch with are suddenly all 'overwhelmed' or 'postponing recruitment.' This feels like more than just standard seasonal slowdown. Anyone else in a similar boat? Is this a sign of things to come, or is it just a strategic pause? Trying to get a sense of what's really happening behind the scenes.

Yeah, I've heard whispers about this too. Seems like there's been a pretty significant slowdown on internal transfers and even new external hires for the past month or so. It's definitely odd, especially considering how critical Con Ed's services are. Makes you wonder if there are budget cuts or a major restructuring on the horizon, or maybe just some internal operational changes causing the pause. Frustrating for sure if you're trying to move up or get in there.
