Corning (GLW) - Rumblings and slowdowns?

Hey all, been at Corning for a few years now in [specific division, e.g., optical communications]. Lately, there's been a definite shift in the air. Project timelines are getting pushed, some new initiatives seem to be on ice, and there's just this general sense of uncertainty. Management talk is all about 'optimization' and 'strategic realignment,' which is corporate speak for... well, you know. Haven't seen any official announcements or heard any concrete numbers, but the whispers are getting louder. Anyone else in GLW experiencing something similar? Are you seeing fewer new hires, stalled projects, or a general slowdown in hiring? Trying to gauge if this is widespread or just specific to my department. Curious to hear what others are seeing or hearing.

I've been hearing similar sentiments from folks in other departments. It feels like a belt-tightening period is upon us. While 'optimization' can sometimes lead to positive changes, it's hard not to feel a bit uneasy when things start to slow down. Hopefully, it's just a temporary recalibration and not a sign of deeper issues.

Interesting to hear your perspective. I'm in a different area, and while we haven't felt the slowdown quite as acutely, there's definitely been a shift in how projects are prioritized. More focus on existing revenue streams, less on moonshots. It's prudent business practice, but I can see how it would create uncertainty if you're used to rapid expansion.
