Hey all, been with Corning for a while and generally things have been stable. However, with the current economic climate and some recent news from competitors in the materials space, I'm starting to get a bit antsy about the upcoming quarters. Haven't heard anything specific about layoffs or major restructuring at GLW, but the market seems a little shaky. Any insights from those in finance, sales, or strategy roles? Are there any specific market segments that are looking particularly strong or weak for Corning right now? Trying to get a sense of the overall business health and potential headwinds. Not looking for rumors, just data-driven perspectives or high-level analysis if anyone has it. Appreciate any constructive input.

I'm also watching GLW closely. While the general economic headwinds are undeniable, I'm cautiously optimistic about a few areas. Their dominance in optical communications and their exposure to 5G infrastructure build-outs could provide a nice tailwind. Plus, the ongoing need for specialty materials in advanced manufacturing and automotive sectors shouldn't be underestimated. Keep an eye on inventory levels and demand signals from those specific segments.

From what I've gathered, some of the usual demand drivers for display glass might be softening, which is a concern. However, their specialty materials division, particularly for life sciences and advanced optics, continues to show resilience and innovation. It's a bit of a mixed bag, but I'm not entirely convinced the broader market sentiment fully reflects the strength in their niche areas. Patience might be key here.
