Anyone else getting weird vibes in your org this week?

Is it just me, or has the atmosphere at Dell shifted significantly in the last few days? I’ve noticed a few of the senior VPs in my division suddenly blocking out their calendars for 'internal syncs' that don't seem to be on the project roadmap. Whenever I walk past the conference rooms, the mood is noticeably somber, and there’s a lot of hushed talking. We haven't heard anything official from leadership regarding a new round of workforce reductions, but given the market pressure and the way margins have been tightening, I can't help but feel like we're waiting for the other shoe to drop. My manager is suddenly super tight-lipped about headcount planning for Q3, which is usually a massive red flag. Anyone else seeing similar patterns in their respective orgs? I’ve been here for five years and I’ve seen enough cycles to know when the climate starts changing, but I’m hoping I’m just being paranoid. Any insight or observations would be appreciated, because the rumor mill is starting to get pretty loud in my corner of the office.

The quiet is the loudest signal you'll ever get at this company. I’ve seen this exact pattern three times now over the last decade. Those mysterious calendar blocks are never for anything positive, and the hushed tones in the hallways are a classic indicator that the rumor mill is actually behind on the real timeline. Start backing up your personal files to an external drive today and make sure your resume is polished. If you feel like something is off, your gut is almost certainly right. Stay sharp and keep your head down until the inevitable announcement drops.

I wouldn't stress too much about the optics just yet. Senior management deals with high-level restructuring and budget alignment constantly, and most of those 'secret' meetings are probably just quarterly planning or routine administrative nonsense. It’s easy to get caught up in the paranoia when things get quiet, but remember that the rumor mill thrives on uncertainty. Just keep delivering on your KPIs and stop looking for ghosts in empty conference rooms. Unless you hear something directly from HR or a town hall, it’s best to just focus on your actual workload instead of reading tea leaves.
