Yeah, we're seeing the same thing in our team. We lost two people and haven't been able to replace them. Management keeps saying 'be patient' and 'we're streamlining' but it's putting a ton of stress on everyone else. Morale is definitely down. I wouldn't be surprised if more people start looking for other jobs soon if this keeps up. It's a cost-cutting move, for sure, but the impact on those of us left is huge.
Honestly, headcount reduction is pretty common these days, especially with economic uncertainty. While the hiring freeze is annoying, it might be a good thing in the long run if it prevents massive layoffs later. Keep your head down, document your accomplishments, and network internally. Always be prepared for the worst, but don't assume the sky is falling. Dell's been through cycles before and come out okay.
