Is internal mobility even possible here anymore?

I've been trying to switch from my current role in Human Capital to something in Tech Consulting for months, but I keep getting ghosted after the initial interview. I’ve updated my resume, networked like crazy, even got a few referrals. Still nothing. Is anyone successfully making internal moves right now, or are all the open positions just 'fake' postings to keep us in our places? I'm thinking about jumping ship to another firm at this point, it's been almost a year of applications for the same role, and it would be ideal to do it internally. Any tips?

I feel your pain. I've seen a lot of "internal mobility" initiatives that end up being more performative than practical. Tech Consulting is super competitive, so it could just be volume. Maybe try to get super specific feedback after the next rejection, and see if there are any training opportunities that could close the gap between your current skills and what they are looking for in TC.

Honestly, internal mobility is always harder than they make it sound. It's often easier to get hired into a new firm than to move departments internally. At least that's been my experience. It sounds like you're doing all the right things, but maybe broaden your search outside of just Deloitte if it's been a year with no progress. Don't waste your time waiting.
