Consulting Buzzwords vs. Reality

So, I saw that article talking about Deloitte (and others) exploring new tech to prevent future layoffs. On one hand, it's good they're thinking ahead, right? Trying to be more efficient and whatnot. But on the other hand, it feels a bit like rearranging deck chairs on the Titanic sometimes. We hear all this talk about innovation and transformation, but then we still see headcount reductions. Makes you wonder if these 'solutions' are actually going to make a difference when the market shifts, or if it's just more corporate speak. Curious if anyone has seen these 'efficiency measures' in action and if they actually feel like they're protecting jobs, or just paving the way for fewer people to do more work.

Deloitte Consulting Layoffs - July 9th?

Has anyone else heard whispers about layoffs at Deloitte Consulting around July 9th? Saw a brief mention on AOL.com but it was pretty vague about the numbers. Seems like consulting firms are really feeling the pinch lately. Wondering if it's widespread or targeted. If anyone has more concrete info or has been impacted, would appreciate any details you can share. Trying to gauge the situation across the industry. Feels like a lot of us are in a similar boat right now, just trying to stay afloat.

My manager is suddenly super focused on 'career pathing' - red flag?

I'm a Senior Consultant, been with the firm for about 3 years, primarily in the Digital Transformation space. For the past month, my manager has been scheduling these really intense 1-on-1s focused on my 'career trajectory' and 'future at Deloitte.' Normally, I'd welcome this, but the questions feel...pointed. They're asking about my aspirations *outside* the firm, my network, and what my 'plan B' looks like. It's making me really paranoid. Is this standard practice for performance reviews, or is this a way to soften the blow if cuts are coming? I haven't heard anything directly about layoffs on my specific project, but the overall vibe feels off. Anyone else had similar experiences recently?

Is it just me or is the 'delayering' talk more serious this time around?

Been here about 5 years in the Strategy practice, and lately, the conversations around 'organizational efficiency' and 'right-sizing' feel different. Usually, it's just corporate jargon, but there's a palpable shift. My team lead has been way more quiet about upcoming project pipelines, and even some senior managers seem a bit uneasy. Are others noticing this at their levels or in different parts of Consulting? Feels like more than just the usual end-of-year buzz. Trying to stay optimistic, but the lack of transparency is really starting to get to me. Anyone in a similar boat or hearing anything more concrete that isn't just rumors?

Is internal mobility even possible here anymore?

I've been trying to switch from my current role in Human Capital to something in Tech Consulting for months, but I keep getting ghosted after the initial interview. I’ve updated my resume, networked like crazy, even got a few referrals. Still nothing. Is anyone successfully making internal moves right now, or are all the open positions just 'fake' postings to keep us in our places? I'm thinking about jumping ship to another firm at this point, it's been almost a year of applications for the same role, and it would be ideal to do it internally. Any tips?

Anyone else feel like they're constantly on edge at Deloitte?

Seriously, I can't be the only one feeling this constant low-level anxiety. I'm a Senior Consultant in the Strategy & Analytics practice, been here for almost 4 years now. Every email, every meeting, I'm just waiting for the other shoe to drop. Maybe it's just the usual consulting grind, but I swear the pressure has ramped up lately. Anyone else feeling it? I'm working longer hours for the same mediocre pay.

Severance package details - what to expect if the worst happens?

Hypothetically speaking, does anyone know the typical severance package offered during layoffs at Deloitte Consulting? I'm in Strategy & Analytics, and the climate feels...uncertain. I've heard rumors of 2 weeks per year of service, but that seems low compared to what I've seen at other firms. Also, what about unused PTO? Does that get paid out? And what about benefits continuation - is there COBRA, or do they offer some kind of subsidized coverage for a limited time? Any insights would be greatly appreciated, just trying to be prepared.

Just saw a colleague's calendar invite mysteriously vanish - should I be worried?

Okay, this might sound paranoid, but I'm genuinely freaked out. I work in Tax and just noticed that a colleague who I frequently collaborate with suddenly has a completely empty calendar. Like, all the meetings we had scheduled together are GONE from *my* calendar too. I checked to see if they were OOO or something, but nothing. No email, no Slack message, nada. Has anyone else experienced something similar before a layoff? I know things are slow right now, but this feels different. I'm an experienced hire with 5 years at the firm and the thought of suddenly being unemployed is terrifying. Am I overreacting, or is this a legit sign?

Heard whispers about 'performance reviews'...are they laying groundwork for cuts?

Anyone else feeling super anxious about the upcoming performance review cycle? My manager keeps hinting at 'difficult conversations' and 'aligning expectations'. I'm in Risk & Financial Advisory, been here almost 3 years, and honestly, my projects have been solid. I've consistently gotten 'meets expectations' or even a 'role model' on a few projects. But these vibes are OFF. It feels like they're prepping us for something. I know the utilization rates haven't been great across the board. Are they going to use these reviews as an excuse to quietly trim the fat? Anyone else hearing similar things in their practice?

Brutal Performance Review - How to Handle It?

Just got absolutely hammered in my performance review. Been at Deloitte Consulting for 5 years and I've never had one this bad. Basically told me my utilization is too low (it's true, finding projects has been tough), my client feedback is mediocre, and I'm not progressing quickly enough. My skip-level even hinted that my job could be at risk if I don't turn things around fast. Has anyone else been through something similar? How did you handle it? Any tips for improving utilization and getting better client feedback? Feeling pretty demoralized right now and not sure where to start. Seriously considering polishing up my resume, but I'd rather try to fix things if possible. Any advice would be appreciated.

Anyone got the axe in Government & Public Services (GPS)?

Just trying to get a pulse check... I'm in the GPS practice and have heard some scuttlebutt about potential restructuring. Specifically, rumors about overlaps in certain service lines that might lead to headcount reductions. Anyone in GPS actually been laid off in the past week or so? Or know anyone who has? I'm trying to figure out if this is real or just the usual pre-performance review jitters. My manager has been radio silent, which is making me even more nervous. If anyone has any concrete information, please share. Even if it's just confirming or denying the rumors, it would be helpful.

Hearing Rumblings - Consulting Layoffs Coming Soon?

Anyone else feeling uneasy? I'm in Strategy & Analytics, been with Deloitte Consulting for 3 years now, and the vibe has been off lately. Project pipeline seems thinner than usual, and there's been a lot of closed-door meetings with partners I haven't seen before. My utilization is still decent, but I know others on my team are struggling to find billable hours. I remember hearing whispers about performance reviews being more heavily scrutinized this year, which is never a good sign. Is this just paranoia, or is anyone else bracing for a potential wave of layoffs in the consulting practice? Trying to get ahead of it, so any insights are greatly appreciated.
