Severance package details - what to expect if the worst happens?

Hypothetically speaking, does anyone know the typical severance package offered during layoffs at Deloitte Consulting? I'm in Strategy & Analytics, and the climate feels...uncertain. I've heard rumors of 2 weeks per year of service, but that seems low compared to what I've seen at other firms. Also, what about unused PTO? Does that get paid out? And what about benefits continuation - is there COBRA, or do they offer some kind of subsidized coverage for a limited time? Any insights would be greatly appreciated, just trying to be prepared.

I've heard similar rumblings, and honestly, 2 weeks per year sounds optimistic based on what I've gleaned from others who left. A lot probably depends on your level and tenure. Definitely start documenting your accomplishments NOW. It's always good to have that ready, regardless. Regarding PTO, in most states, they *have* to pay it out, but double-check your employee handbook. COBRA is usually your only option for benefits, unfortunately. Start looking at other opportunities; being proactive is always the best defense.

Take everything you hear with a HUGE grain of salt. Layoffs and severance are HR's game, and they change the rules whenever it suits them. Don't count on anything until you see it in writing. And honestly, even then, have a lawyer review it if you're talking about a significant package. Focus on making yourself indispensable – that's the best job security you can have. Thinking about leaving is only going to make things worse!
