I have been here long enough to see this cycle play out a dozen times. The leadership team always loves to sell a vision of growth and stability right up until the exact moment they decide to trim the fat to appease the stakeholders. It’s never about the individual contributions or the hard work you put in during those brutal busy seasons; it’s just a spreadsheet exercise for them. My advice is to stop buying into the corporate loyalty talk and start focusing on your own exit strategy before they decide your department is the next target for 'optimization.'
It is honestly exhausting watching the same script repeat itself. We spend months grinding away on projects that we are told are mission-critical, only to be treated like disposable assets the second the profit margins dip slightly. The lack of transparency from the top is what really gets to me. Nobody expects total job security in this industry, but the gaslighting about how healthy everything is while colleagues are being cut is just insulting. Just keep your head down, get your resume updated, and remember that you are just a number in their ledger.
