The silence from leadership is standard procedure, but it definitely feels like more than just a Philly-specific correction. I’m over in the Houston hub and the anxiety is palpable; we’ve seen a noticeable shift in travel budgets and project funding over the last few weeks. If you look at how they handled the last cycle, these cuts usually ripple out in waves once they test the waters in the smaller satellite offices. Start prepping your resume now because if it happened there, the rest of us are almost certainly next on the list.
I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. It’s brutal how they just pull the plug without any transparency or communication. Given the current focus on trimming operational costs to appease shareholders, it’s naive to think this stays contained to the Philly office. Devon has been looking for ways to streamline for a while now, and unfortunately, headcount is always the easiest lever to pull. Don't wait for management to give you the signal—assume the worst and start networking while you still have access to the internal directory.
