Been at Devon for a while and this time of year is usually a bit quieter, but I've heard a couple of offhand comments from people in different teams that sounded a bit concerning. Nothing concrete, just hints about 'tightening the belt' and 'optimizing resources.' Could just be end-of-year budget talk, or maybe it's genuine concern about potential cuts. We haven't had any major layoffs in recent memory, so it would be a big shift if something were to happen. Has anyone else heard anything more specific? Or is this just my paranoia kicking in? Would appreciate any insights, even if it's just speculation. Trying to gauge the general sentiment.

I've been with Devon for several years now and have also noticed the usual end-of-year quiet. However, I've picked up on similar whispers about 'resource optimization' and 'belt-tightening' from colleagues. It's easy to dismiss it as standard budget chatter, especially around the holidays when things naturally slow down. But the frequency of these comments across different departments does give one pause. Let's hope it's just the typical year-end financial review and not a precursor to something more significant. It would indeed be a notable shift given our history.
