Is this the new normal at Disney? Efficiency over people?

Seeing the news about the latest round of layoffs at Disney, and honestly, it's starting to feel less like a one-off situation and more like a strategic shift. The talk about a "culture of efficiency" being touted by leadership makes me uneasy. It sounds like a corporate buzzword to justify cutting headcount even further down the line. I've been in entertainment for a while, and while efficiency is always important, this feels different. It feels like they're prioritizing numbers and perhaps even AI/automation over the people who've been the backbone of these creative and technical divisions for years. I'm not sure if it's just me, but the constant news of cuts across different departments – from film and TV to news and marketing – suggests a deeper restructuring. It's hard not to worry about job security and the long-term impact on the creative output when so many talented individuals are being let go. Does anyone else feel like this is the new strategy, and what does it mean for those of us still here?
