I hear you loud and clear. Been there, felt that. The bean counters have definitely taken over. It's tough when the magic fades and it's just another soulless corporation. Start documenting EVERYTHING. CYA is the name of the game now. And maybe start quietly looking for other opportunities. It might be time to jump ship before the whole thing sinks.
Twelve years is a long time to invest in something. Maybe you're just hitting a mid-career slump? Every big company has its share of bureaucracy and frustrating mandates. Is there any way to shift departments or take on a new challenge internally to rekindle some of that old spark? Before throwing it all away, explore every option, especially if the benefits are decent. Good luck.
