Severance Package - What to Expect?

Hypothetically speaking, if Disney were to do another round of layoffs (knock on wood), what kind of severance package are we talking about? I've heard whispers of two weeks per year of service, but that seems low compared to other companies. I'm in production, been here for 5 years. My friend who worked at Fox before the merger said they got a much better deal. Does anyone have firsthand experience from previous layoffs within Disney, or even just general industry knowledge about severance best practices? Any insight would be greatly appreciated. I'm trying to be prepared, just in case. Is it negotiable? Should I get a lawyer involved? Trying to wrap my head around this stuff.

Honestly, two weeks per year sounds about right for Disney. They're a massive company, and while they *can* afford more, they don't *have* to. I wouldn't bank on anything extravagant. Start polishing that resume now, just in case. Look into outplacement services too, sometimes HR offers them as part of the package and they can be helpful.

Fox folks definitely got a sweeter deal. Disney historically hasn't been super generous, in my experience. Five years? Maybe you can negotiate a little more, especially if you have specialized skills. Document everything you've achieved and any projects you've led – quantifiable results are your best leverage. Good luck!
