Severance package question - CA specific, please help!

Hypothetically speaking, if there *were* layoffs in California (which, to be clear, I'm not saying there are!), what's the standard severance package looking like these days? I've heard different things from different people, and I want to be prepared, just in case. Specifically, does tenure factor in significantly? I've been here for 12 years, so I'm hoping that would translate to something substantial. Also, does anyone know if they typically offer outplacement services? Any insights or advice from people who have been through this before would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Tenure definitely matters! I was part of a smaller layoff a few years back (pre-pandemic), and they used years of service as a major factor in calculating severance. 12 years should get you a decent package, probably several months of pay. Outplacement was offered, but honestly, I didn't find it that helpful. Networking yourself will probably be more effective, so start brushing up your resume and LinkedIn profile now, just in case. Good luck!

Take everything you hear with a grain of salt. Disney's severance packages have varied wildly in the past, depending on the division and the level of the employee. While tenure *should* factor in, they might also consider things like performance ratings or current market conditions. Don't bank on anything until you see it in writing. Start quietly exploring other options; it's always better to be proactive. I'd also recommend consulting with an employment lawyer if you receive an offer; they can advise you on whether it's fair and if there's room for negotiation.
