Impact of Recent Layoffs on Remaining Employees at eBay

So, the 639 layoffs happened on June 17th. That's a significant number of people gone. I'm still at eBay and honestly, it's starting to feel like a ghost town in some departments. The workload hasn't decreased, obviously, and the remaining team members are stretched thin. There's a palpable sense of anxiety – who's going to be on the chopping block next? It's tough to focus on projects when you're constantly scanning for signs of trouble. Management communication has been pretty standard, lots of corporate speak about 'difficult decisions' and 'future focus.' It's hard to accept that when you see friends and former teammates packing up their desks. Has anyone else experienced this? How are you coping with the increased pressure and the uncertainty? Any tips on staying productive and sane through this? Just looking for some solidarity, I guess.

It's completely understandable that morale is suffering after such a large reduction in force. The uncertainty about future cuts would make anyone anxious, and it's a tough environment when you feel like your workload is increasing while job security dwindles. Hopefully, leadership will find ways to address the remaining employees' concerns and provide more clarity to ease the anxiety. It's a difficult situation for everyone involved.

That sounds like a really stressful environment to be in. It's a shame that the company's efficiency seems to be coming at the expense of its employees' well-being. When people are stretched thin and worried about their jobs, productivity and innovation inevitably take a hit. Hoping things stabilize soon and that management can better support the team that's left.
