Yeah, I'm seeing something similar, though maybe not quite as drastic. Been here about 3 years, and while we haven't had outright departures like you described, there's definitely a hiring freeze in effect for my group. We were supposed to bring on a couple of junior engineers this quarter, and that's just not happening. The 're-prioritizing' language is definitely the go-to, and it's frustrating not getting more clarity. Makes it tough to gauge future workload and career growth. Hope it stabilizes for you guys soon.
Sounds like the usual corporate shuffle to me. 'Re-prioritizing' and 'strategic focus shifts' are buzzwords for 'we need to cut costs' or 'we're chasing the next shiny object.' It's tough when your team is directly impacted. My advice? Document everything. Keep track of what you're delivering and what's being pushed back due to headcount. When the dust settles, you'll have a clear picture of the impact. Don't be afraid to have candid (but professional) conversations with your manager about how this affects your personal capacity and project timelines.
