It’s happening again. Just got the calendar invite for a '1:1 with People Team' that appeared out of nowhere this morning. Seems like a decent chunk of the observability team is getting cut this time. The HR Digest report mentioned it was coming, but seeing the slack channels go dark one by one is surreal. I’ve been here for three years and I've never seen the leadership team look this lost during an all-hands. They keep talking about 'optimizing focus' and 'AI-driven product alignment,' but it feels like they’re just burning the furniture to keep the lights on for the shareholders. Anyone else in the same boat? I’m mostly worried about the severance terms compared to the last cycle. If you’re still active, grab your logs and documentation while you still have access. Good luck to everyone getting hit today; we deserve better than these sudden cuts.

It’s honestly gut-wrenching to watch the slack channels go quiet like this. I was on a call when a few people just dropped off mid-sentence, and we all knew what it meant immediately. The corporate speak about alignment is just a thin veil for the fact that they are shrinking the headcount to make the quarterly numbers look better for the board. After everything we built, it feels like they’re gutting the core of the engineering team just to pivot toward whatever the next shiny metric is. Hard to stay motivated when you’re waiting for your own calendar invite to pop up next.
