It’s happening again. Just got the calendar invite for a 'team sync' with an HR rep at 9:00 AM. For those who haven’t seen the news today, June 26th, it’s officially a wider cut than the rumors suggested. We’ve been hearing about 'operational efficiency' for months, but seeing the actual headcount impact is brutal. I’ve been here for three years and watched the culture shift from an engineering-first mindset to pure quarterly obsession. I feel like we’re just numbers being moved around to satisfy some analyst's spreadsheet. I checked the internal directory and already saw a handful of friends who are gone. If you’re still active, do yourself a favor and get your personal files off your machine while you still have access. This isn't the company I joined, and frankly, the transparency is at an all-time low. Good luck to everyone currently refreshing their email in a panic.

I am so sorry you are going through this. The 'operational efficiency' line is such a hollow corporate script used to mask the fact that leadership stopped valuing the people who actually built the product. Three years of your hard work shouldn't be discarded like a spreadsheet adjustment. Take some time for yourself today, update your resume, and remember that your talent remains even if the company decided it didn't deserve to keep you. You deserve better than this culture shift.

It is honestly depressing to watch what was once an engineering-driven company turn into another machine obsessed with short-term wall street metrics. The writing has been on the wall for a while, but that doesn't make the impact on your team any less gut-wrenching. They keep stripping away the soul of the place while calling it efficiency. Hang in there and reach out to your network; the tech community knows exactly what is happening over there, and there are plenty of places that still respect the craft.
