Honestly, I’m struggling to see the product roadmap being sustainable with the current level of talent attrition. Every time we go through these cycles of 'operational efficiency,' we lose the tribal knowledge that actually makes the Elastic stack work for high-scale enterprise clients. It feels like we are pivoting away from the core engineering culture that built this thing and moving toward pure margin management. I’ve been here for three years and this is the first time I’ve actually started updating my resume. If the leadership is looking to slim down this aggressively during a market shift, they clearly aren't prioritizing the stability of the long-term dev ecosystem. Does anyone know if the GTM teams were hit as hard as the product side, or is this just across the board?

The shift toward margin management is becoming impossible to ignore. When you prioritize quarterly optics over the deep engineering that defines the stack, the product roadmap inevitably suffers. We are already seeing the cracks in the search performance for high-concurrency environments, and losing the folks who truly understand the underlying architecture is a death knell. It feels like the company is trading long-term technical leadership for short-term stock bumps, and frankly, those of us in the trenches can tell the difference.

You aren't alone in feeling that way. Elastic used to be synonymous with absolute reliability, but lately, the focus has shifted entirely to keeping shareholders happy rather than shipping meaningful innovation. The brain drain is real, and the tribal knowledge leaving the building is staggering. Once you lose the engineers who built the foundation, it’s only a matter of time before the platform starts feeling like a bloated mess. It’s sad to watch, but maybe it’s time to start looking elsewhere for better tooling.
